Offered here is a baseball signed by Monty Stratton, James Stewart, and June Allyson. Stewart and Allyson starred in The Stratton Story (1949), a tale of the Chicago White Sox pitcher who lost a leg in a hunting accident before attempting to mount a one-legged comeback in the minor leagues. Stratton has signed the sweet spot, with Stewart signing the west panel and Allyson the east. “The Monty Stratton Story” is written on the panel where the League President’s would normally be, and “A movie about the life of Monty Stratton Chicago White Sox pitcher whose career was ended when he lost his right leg as a result of a hunting accident-November 1938” is written on the panel south of the sweet spot in an unknown hand. The panel to the north of the sweet spot features a rundown of Stratton’s career statistics. The signatures and handwriting have been written in black marker. This ball is coated in shellac and is accompanied by a LOA from JSA (Z78754).
