Muhammad Ali’s two fights against Sonny Liston were his abrupt introductions to American and global fame. The brash youngster ripped the heavyweight title out of Liston’s hands in 1964, when he was still known as Cassius Clay, and defended it in 1965 with a first round KO of “The Big Bear”. It was in the second fight that the most iconic photograph in boxing history was taken. Neil Leifer captured the moment after Liston hit the canvas, with Ali pumping his fist and taunting the former champion. This example of the photograph measures 16x20 inches and is framed. Ali signed the picture in gold marker. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AB12562).
