In 1996, Muhammad Ali received the honor of lighting the Olympic torch to kick off the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. A gold medalist in the 1960 Rome Games, Ali’s return to the Olympics was an incredibly bittersweet moment due to his visible struggle against Parkinson’s disease.
Here Ali is pictured twice, once lighting the Olympic cauldron and once presenting the torch to the adoring crowd at Centennial Olympic Stadium. Ali signed this 16 x 20 inch photograph in gold marker. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AB12520).
