Offered here is a framed and signed copy of Neil Leifer’s seminal shot of Muhammad Ali knocking down Cleveland Williams at the end of round two during the heavyweight title bout at the Houston Astrodome on November 14, 1966. Ali, would win on a TKO in the third round when the referee stopped the fight. This photograph, shot from the rafters of the Astrodome looking down on ring surrounded by rows and rows of press and judges, provides a beautiful juxtaposition of the forces involved in Ali’s life. Inside the ring Ali could control everything, but outside of the ring forces beyond his control constantly vilified and judged him. Ali signed this photograph in black Sharpie to the right of his body. The photograph is 20 x 20 inches and is in a 28 x 32 ½ inch frame, with the caption “Muhammad Ali/’The Greatest’” and includes the date and location of the fight, as well as “3rd round knock out over Cleveland Williams to retain World Heavyweight Championship.” This item comes with a PSA/DNA STICKER ONLY (B01377).
