Featured is an autographed photograph of the famous bout between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman known only as “The Rumble in the Jungle”. George Foreman entered the fight a heavy favorite as he had amassed an impressive 40 – 0 record; two of his previous wins coming by way of stoppage over Ken Norton and Joe Frazier (opponents who had given Ali trouble in the past). On October 30, 1974 at the 20th of May Stadium in Kinshasa, Zaire (Now The Democratic Republic of the Kongo), the two men met in the squared circle and put on a fight that many critics would consider one of the greatest fights of the 20th century. Despite being the underdog, Ali would emerge victorious from the fight, finishing Foreman by TKO in the 8th round, and being the first man to finish the seemingly unstoppable Foreman.
This photograph captures the fighters moments before the bout is over. Ali can be seen in the back of this image, his eyes focused on his downed foe, while the referee hovers over the dazed Foreman. This photograph stands 8 x 10 inches and is unframed. Ali’s signature can be found on the bottom, directly under Foreman, written in black ink. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (S14131).
