Presented here is a contract for Muhammad Ali fight in 1976. On Official Herbert Muhammad Enterprises letterhead, the contract is dated June 11, 1976. It is between Herbert Muhammad, Ali's manager, and Mr. Igal Markler, and Mr. Wayne Garland of Inter Sports Inc. & Associates located in Sydney, Australia. The contract stipulates that Ali will face either Jimmy Young in a rematch of their April 30, 1976 bout that saw Ali win by a unanimous decision, or another suitable opponent, with the match being held in Sydney, for a sum of $2,800,000. The contract stipulates that Ali will have to make his own contract for the fight against Young or a suitable opponent, one hundred ringside tickets and 200 tickets will be furbished to Herbert Muhammad, fifty first-class airline tickets awarded to Ali and his entourage, and three limousines with drivers to transport Ali and his entourage at the fight site for the duration of his final training. Both Herbert Muhammad and Muhammad Ali signed the contract with blue ink. Ali wouldn't make his grand entrance to Sydney that year. Instead, the noted pugilist would face off against Ken Norton for the third and final time on September 28, 1976, at Yankee Stadium. Ali would end up defeating Norton by a split decision, retaining his World Heavyweight Title. Ali would not go to Australia until 1979 and face off against British boxer Joe Bugner in an exhibition match. The contract signed by Muhammad Ali and his manager, Herbert Muhammad, is in good condition and comes with an LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signatures.
