Presented here is a photograph of the late Muhammad Ali alongside NBA legend Bill Russell. Both Ali and Russell were among the best in their respective sports, Ali being a 3-time world champion and Russell an 11-time NBA champion. Both men were active participants in the civil rights movements of the 1960’s that opposed racial discrimination and segregation. Both faced backlash from the masses and the media during this time, however they did not let the negative attention distract them from their forte.
This black and white photograph depicts Russell throwing a jab at the champion, while Ali looks to dodge and, and has both his fists clenched. Bill Russell has signed this photograph in blue ink at the bottom, while Muhammad Ali’s signature can be found at the bottom center, in a separate cut. This piece is matted and framed, with a small commemoration cut at the very bottom. This piece stand 35 ½ x 23 inches and includes LOA’s by PSA/DNA (11569) and JSA (B64780).
