April 17th 1951 at Yankee Stadium marked the final opening day of the Yankee Clipper's career, and the first of the Commerce Comet's. Joe DiMaggio would retire in 1951, and of course this was the debut of the great Mickey Mantle. Program for Yankees vs Red Sox, April 17,1951 opening day for the Yankees. Program is neatly dated April 17,1951 and features the lineup for the day. It is fascinating to see Mantle projected as a bench player for opening day and wearing uniform #6. Of course he started that day in RF, batted third and recorded his first major league hit. Program is in excellent condition and the all important scorecard is intact and attached. An incomparable treasure for the Mantle collector.
