2017 October Legends Closing November 11
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/12/2017
Nathaniel “Fred” Pfeffer and Thomas Tarlton Brown have signed this album page. The two men were teammates for the Louisville Colonels, Honus Wagner’s first professional team, from 1892 to 1894. Pfeffer served as the player-manager in 1892, managing the club for the second half of the season in the stead of Jack Chapman. Pfeffer was a middle infielder, while Brown manned the center field position, albeit not very well as to this day he is the all-time leader in errors committed by an outfielder.
Each man has signed this album page in black fountain pen. Pfeffer has signed as “N.F. Pfeffer”, inscribing “Mgr. Lou. B.B.C.” beneath his signature. Brown signed as “Thomas T. Brown”, inscribing his position of “Centerfield” beneath his signature. “Louisville Club” is written in an unknown hand on the top of this album page.
