The Yankees “Core Four” of Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitte, and Jorge Posada were the main drivers behind much of the Yankees success in the late 1990s and early 2000s. With five World Series victories between 1996 and 2009, the Yankees spent almost two decades on top of baseball thanks to the talented crew of players who all debuted in 1995.
This baseball, which was signed by all four members of the “Core Four”, was used on July 24th, 2009, during an 8-3 Yankee victory over the visiting Oakland Athletics. Jeter and Posada were the only two members of the “Core Four” to play, with Jeter going 3-5 with 2 RBI and Posada finishing with an RBI and run scored. This Official Major League Allan H. Selig baseball features excellent signs of game use, with scuffing and dirt marks all over the ball.
Posada and Rivera signed the ball to the left of the sweet spot, sandwiching a “Core Four” inscription penned in an unknown hand. Pettitte signed the panel north of the sweet spot while Jeter signed the panel to the south. All signatures and inscriptions were written in blue pen. This baseball comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (LH 616014) and two Steiner Sports holograms (SS027816 and 217828).
