One of the more beloved more dominant pitchers to don a Yankees’ uniform was Ron Guidry. Louisiana Lightning was the 1978 AL Cy Young Award winner and helped lead the Yankees to two World Series titles and four World Series’ appearances. Guidry played all 14 of his seasons in the Bronx where he finished with a 170-91 record and a solid 3.29 ERA. On August 23rd, 2003, the Yankees honored their great lefty with “Ron Guidry Day”. Among the guests on the field was Willie Randolph, who was Guidry’s teammate from 1976 until 1988.
Randolph was presented with this offered crystal ice bucket that measures 7 ¼ inches in diameter at the top, 5 ½ inches in diameter at its base and is 8 ½ -inches tall. Etched in white on the front is the Yankees “100th ANNIVERSARY 1903 2003” logo. Below is printed in white “Ron Guidry Day August 23, 2003 Yankee Stadium WILLIAM BARTHMAN Jeweler”. The opposite side shows a silhouette of Louisiana Lighting throwing a pitch in his Yankee pinstripe uniform. There are two handles on each side and this crystal is in good condition. This item derives directly from the Willie Randolph Collection and a signed LOA from Willie Randolph will accompany this item.
