Aside from being a great player, Harold “Pee Wee” Reese will also be remembered for being one of the few players to accept Jackie Robinson into the fold. Refusing to sign the petition to boycott Robinson, Reese famously answered a reporter’s question regarding the possibility of Robinson taking his position by stating “If he can take my job, he’s entitled to it”. Reese was also quoted as saying “You can hate a man for many reasons. Color is not one of them.”
Reese signed his name in bold blue pen across the sweet spot of the ever-slightly toned A. Bartlett Giamatti National League baseball. Reese signed it “Pee Wee Reese,” his signature projects beautifully and his signature comes with a COA from Finest Sports Collectibles (026619). Please note that this lot has a 25% Buyer’s Premium.
