This lot is part of the Jackie Robinson 71st Anniversary Auction to benefit the Jackie Robinson Foundation

Presented here is a pen given to Sugar Ray Leonard by United States President Ronald Reagan to commemorate the signing of Martin Luther King Jr. Day into law. Three years later, the first Martin Luther King Jr. Day was observed, although all 50 states did not officially observe the holiday honoring one of our nation’s greatest heroes until 2000. Included in this 20 x 20 inch framed display is the commemorative pen, a photograph of Reagan signing the bill accompanied by Coretta Scott King, and a plaque featuring Reagan’s facsimile signature and the Seal of the United States of America. This item comes with a letter of provenance attesting that the pen was gifted to Sugar Ray Leonard. Please note that this lot has a 25% Buyer’s Premium. Goldin Auctions will be donating 10% of the winning bid price to The Jackie Robinson Foundation.
