Pete Maravich was like no other basketball player before him, a preternaturally gifted scorer created and molded by his larger-than-life father and coach Press Maravich. “Pistol” averaged over 44 points per game in college, without the benefit of a three-point line and a shot clock and is still the all-time leading scorer in Division I history. Although Maravich’s NBA career was hindered by injury and other hardships, the flamboyant shooting guard averaged 24.2 points per game in his 10-season career. Maravich was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987, just a year before his tragic death in 1988 at the age of 40.
Offered here is a matted 7.5 x 9.5 inch photograph of Maravich from a Louisiana State University vs. Florida State University game. LSU played Florida State once during Maravich’s collegiate career, during the Milwaukee Classic on December 16th, 1967. Although Maravich scored 42 points and recorded nine assists LSU fell to Florida State by a score of 130-100. Maravich has signed this photograph in fine-tip black marker as “Pistol Pete Maravich”. He added the inscription “To Bill- Good Luck” to his signature. The photograph, which is lightly creased, has been matted in an 11 x 14 inch display. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (Z62937).
