Handwriting analysis has shown John F. Kennedy's writing to be that of a developing personality with a visionary mind - that of a self-driven, original thinker who deals quickly with a wide range of problems. It is very distinctive - the handwriting of an intelligent and cultured person. To the untrained eye, though, there is much to be desired with his handwriting, being seemingly impossible to decipher many times. Despite the less-than-desirable legibility, though, anything handwritten by our great former president is highly desirable in the collectible market.

Offered here is an extremely rare two-page (three total sides) letter on United States Senate letterhead, completely handwritten by then-Senator John F. Kennedy in blue ballpoint pen. In the letter, Kennedy thanks a Mr. Hilborne for assistance on one of his speeches. Reads, in part: "I hope you will excuse my bad writing, some to thank you very much for your assistance on my speech at the University of Montreal. Teddy has told me that you have received a copy of the speech and you will see that material from your notes runs all through the speech. There was a good audience present and I hope it made it clear to them that a Senator's voice is not always that of the United States government." Kennedy has signed off with a youthful "Cordially John Kennedy" signature. Dated December 30th and referring to the University of Montreal, the letter appears to be in reference to a December 4, 1953 Speech Kennedy gave at the University of Montreal regarding U.S. relations with Canada. The letter remains in fine condition with some handling wear and light toning. Each page has two horizontal creases. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication Services (A72793).
