Presented here is a 7 x 9-inch photo collage containing photos of Presidents Bush Sr., John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon B. Johnson with their wives and locks of hair from Kennedy and Johnson resting inside a 11 x 14-inch matte. During Kennedy’s term as President, he supported the Civil Rights Movement, the Apollo Space Program, went to battle against the war on communism, the Cuban Missile crisis, and Fidel Castro. During his time in the White house, he was groomed by the soon to be renown White House Barber, Steven Martini. During his haircuts, Martini collected some of John’s famous dirty blonde hair. Throughout the history of the World, hair was one of the first collectable items from famed individuals and was more collectable than even a signature of them.

Often referred to by his initials LBJ, Lyndon Baines Johnson was an American politician who served as the 36th president of the United States from 1963 to 1969. Formerly the 37th vice from 1961 to 1963, he assumed the presidency following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. A Democrat from Texas, Johnson also served as a US Representative and as the Majority Leader in the United States Senate. Johnson is one of only four people who have served in all four federal elected positions.

As a President, Johnson is ranked favorably by many historians because of his domestic policies and the passage of many major laws that affected civil rights, gun control, wilderness preservation and Social Security, he also drew substantial criticism for his escalation of the Vietnam War, however. During his time in the office, he developed a very close relationship with the White House barber Steven Martini who he had cut his hair regularly. In many publications Johnson is seen with Martini including several cartoons that were in the newspaper. Martini also cut the hair of LBJ’s family members. Johnson’s salt and peppered lock of hair rests inside a plastic bag attached to the matte with tape on the bottom left corner. The top right corner contains a lock of Kennedy’s brown hair is located in a plastic bag taped to the top right corner. A unique item from the President and Vice President who was sworn into office during the tumultuous 1960s, the items come with an LOA from Steve Martini Jr., son of the famed barber and comes directly from us from his personal collection.
