Lions collectors may be familiar with the team's 1952 championship rings (which have sold at auction for as much as $12,000), but to our knowledge this never-before-auctioned example is the only 1935 Lions championship ring in existence. According to a 2000s interview with the last surviving team member, back-up QB Glenn Presnell, the players each received a $300 bonus after winning the NFL title, because championship rings still weren't yet in vogue as they would be in later years. Nevertheless, this impressive authentic survivor proves that at least one such '35 ring was actually produced. The sterling-silver, size 10 ring features a blue stone in the shape of a football on its face with engraved lettering of "DETROIT LIONS / WORLD CHAMPIONS / 1935." EX/MT condition with expected wear to the figural lion shanks (one a maned male, the other female). Accompanied by an antique original presentation box (1-1/2" x 1-1/4" x 1-1/4") and a 1996 purchase LOA.
