Hall of Famer Ted Lyons managed the Chicago White Sox from 1946-48, the team he pitched between the years 1923-42. He briefly pitched for the Sox in 1946 for five games before taking over managerial duties in May of that year. Offered is a rare Ted Lyons Chicago White Sox warm up jacket dated between the years 1946-48. This size 48 royal blue wool jacket has a red and white striped trim along with now off-white leather trimmed pockets and sleeves. The number "16" has been embroidered in red and white at the base of the left sleeve. "WHITE SOX" has also been sewn on in red and white felt lettering on the back of the jacket. This has a MacGregor/Goldsmith mfg. label sewn on the inside front left interior tail area. Overall condition is good with some very minor moth holes to a few areas and some typical soiling to the leather surfaces. Also included in this lot is a 7x9 inch black and white photo picturing Lyons wearing an identical jacket. Includes LOA from when originally sold at Hunt Auctions
