After winning the 1978 World Series, New York Yankee players were awarded their World Series rings. Reggie wanted to wear his ring in public, but not the team issued ring, so he contracted for the manufacture of an additional exact same ring, one he could personally wear in public. Although this is not the team issued ring, this example was specifically manufactured for Reggie Jackson and worn by him for many years. The Balfour 10K gold ring has round, brilliant cut diamond on top of a blue stone, surrounded by 21 smaller diamonds. These 22 diamonds signify the Yankees 22nd overall World Series title in 1978. The perimeter of the face has “WORLD CHAMPIONS” in high relief. The right shank has the name and number "JACKSON" plus Yankee terms "PRIDE"and "TRADITION" engraved, sandwiched around the year "1978" and the interlocking NY. The other shank has the immaculate facade above a raised detailed, miniature replica of the Commissioners Trophy with the Yankees emblem. This size 10 ring weighs 32 grams, and has the "SA-143087" engraved within the band as well as 'LGB 10k'. While not the exact team issued ring, it is extremely rare a World Series player ring comes available, especially one regularly worn by a HOF player from one of the greatest teams in baseball history. LOA from MEARS, signed by Reggie Jackson, along with a gemological appraisal as to the verification of the diamond. Excellent condition.
