Baseball’s ultimate team accomplishment is a World Series Championship. We have all seen images of members of the winning team hoisting the World Series trophy after the final out has been made. What many may not know is that the individual players were able to order 12” personal versions of the trophy from Balfour. These coveted keepsake trophies feature a brass nameplate surrounding a circular black base with “World Series Champions”, the team, year and players’ name that ordered the trophy on it. The 1993 trophy has press pins from the Phillies and Blue Jays mounted up front and, with the addition of Florida and Colorado that year, is the first to feature 28 team flags surrounding the baseball and crown in the center. This particular trophy was acquired from Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson and is accompanied by a picture of Rickey holding the trophy. Henderson is widely considered the greatest lead off hitter in baseball history and is the MLB record holder for career stolen bases and runs scored. It is rare that a trophy from a player of Henderson’s historic significance comes on the market.
