The legendary Rogers Hornsby has signed this Official Midwest League C.C. Hoffman baseball. One of baseball’s greatest hitters, Hornsby won seven batting titles and hit over .400 three times, including the stratospheric mark of .424 in 1924. He hit 301 home runs playing primarily as a second baseman, a number surpassed or tied by only Jeff Kent and Robinson Cano. Hornsby’s career batting average of .358 is the second highest of all-time, and the Texas native entered the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1942.
Hornsby has signed this ball in blue ballpoint pen on the panel to the south of Hoffman’s stamped signature. Hornsby inscribed “1962” beneath his signature, dating this ball to the year before his untimely death in 1963. While Hornsby’s signature has faded slightly with age, it remains readable and is a tremendous artifact of one of baseball’s greatest careers. This ball comes with a LOA from JSA (X69086).
