Brooklyn Dodgers Hall of Fame catcher Roy Campanella had his career short by a horrific car crash that left him paralyzed. He was a three-time National League MVP and helped the Dodgers win the 1955 World Series. Pre-accident signatures of the great catcher are hard to find and this offered Little League baseball has a Roy Campanella signature before his life-altering accident. The baseball has a Carl E. Stotz stamp on the sweet spot, dating the manufacture of the baseball to 1955 at the latest. Stotz was the founder of the modern day Little League and was the organization’s first commissioner, a post in which he held until 1955. Campanella signed his name on the north panel in black pen with the inscription “Best Wishes”. There is an additional signature of a “Frank J. Herman” on the sweet spot in light blue pen. Campanella’s signature is still strong and the baseball itself only displays minor toning. The stamping is still clear and this baseball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.
