Offered is a Ted Williams signature on a rare proof of an 18-inch bronze medallion and wood base depicting the Hall of Fame Boston Red Sox star. Williams has signed his name in gold marker on the black wood base to the left of his raised profile on the bronze medallion, which captures the young “Splendid Splinter” in a head and shoulder bust. The noted sculptor Armand La Montagne (who lived and worked in suburban Boston for most of his life) has signed his name in gold marker in the lower left of the base, and inscribed “1993” below his signature. The reverse of the medallion and base is inscribed by the artist in blue marker, “# Artist/Proof Ted Williams by Armand La Montagne 1993” with an accompanying brand of the artist. Due to a lack of financing on this project, Montagne only produced five copies of the Williams bronze.
