Over a decade into their careers as psychedelic rock gods, the Grateful Dead dominated the psychedelic rock scene in the latter portion of the 1980’s, spurred on by a rejuvenated Jerry Garcia and his all-star cast of supporting band mates. The Dead kicked off the Spring 1988 tour with a date at the Omni in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 24th, before playing a series of 16 more shows culminating with a series of three performances at the Rosemont Horizon in Illinois on April 13th, 14th, and 15th.
Presented here is a piece of Grateful Dead artwork from their Spring 1988 tour, signed by seven members of the Dead. The poster, which features a skull bisected by a lightning bolt, was created by renowned pop artist Peter Max. Abstract, mind-bending artwork floats around the two-toned skull, including a man in bell-bottoms striding through the cosmos and a woman floating in the stars. The scene is bordered by a blue, green, and yellow gradient pattern with a red bottom. “Spring Tour 1988” is printed on the bottom border in blue and black text. Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, Brent Mydland, and Peter Max have all signed the bottom of this poster in black marker. This item is unframed, and measures 24 x 34 inches, and is accompanied by a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A82185).
