Rogers Hornsby knew how to hit, and he could put bat to ball better than any other right-handed batter in Major League history. A seven-time batting champ, Hornsby’s career batting average of .358 is second all-time, behind only Ty Cobb. A two-time National League MVP, Hornsby won the 1926 World Series as a player-manager for the St. Louis Cardinals. Hornsby was the rare power-hitting second baseman, and his 284 career home runs as a second baseman remained the MLB record until 1984, nearly 50 years after Hornsby’s retirement as a player. Hornsby won two National League Triple Crowns, and in 1924 he recorded the second highest batting average of the 20th century with a mark of .424. He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1942.

Hornsby has signed this Official National League Warren Giles baseball in blue pen. His signature is located on the panel to the north of Giles’ stamped signature, and it projects abundant clarity. Beneath his signature, Hornsby inscribed the year “1960”, dating this ball to the end of the period where he served as a coach for the Chicago Cubs. This stunning baseball is accompanied by a LOA from PSA/DNA (AE05255).
