Presented here is an excellent set of four-page working lyrics for the song “16 On Death Row”, hand written by Tupac Shakur. In total, there are four pages of lyrics for this song, which was included on Shakur’s second posthumous release R U Still Down? (Remember Me). Afeni Shakur, Tupac’s mother and a legendary Civil Rights activist, oversaw the production of this album from her new record label, Amaru Entertainment.
These four pages of hand-written lyrics have been extensively workshopped by Tupac, with numerous corrections, edits, and notes. The lyrics are for a rare early version of the song, written on large and pristine pieces of large lined paper. Some of these lyrics appeared in other Tupac songs, providing an amazing glimpse into the mind of one of America's greatest poetic and creative geniuses. On the top of one page, Shakur wrote “2PACALYPSE II” and “Brotha ‘Troublesome’”. “16 On Death Row” samples the Curtis Mayfield song “He’s A Fly Guy”, and features Tupac as the sole rapper. These lyrics, which are written in blue ballpoint pen, come with two LOAs from JSA (Z42325 and Z42326). Each JSA LOA has authenticated two pages.
