“Street Life” could have been one of Tupac Shakur’s crowing achievements, a career-defining song recorded with Snoop Dogg, and intended for release on Snoop’s seminal album “The Doggfather”. Instead, the song was never official released by Snoop or Pac, doomed to the annals of history. Rap fans missed out on a good one, as this song contains a diss directed towards Tupac’s East Coast rivals, Bad Boy Records, “bomb these b*****z leave the track smokin’ / Cuz real Bad Boy Killaz leave the gatz smokin’”. Biggie Smalls was the linchpin of Bad Boy Records, so this track could be interpreted as a direct shot at Big.
These lyrics, which were for the second verse of “Street Life”, have been written in green pen on musician’s staff paper. The lyrics include numerous corrections, rewrites, and original notations from Tupac, giving a fascinating input into the creative process of one of the most influential musicians of the hip-hop era. This one page lyric sheet features minor soiling, and some wear around the edges, but is otherwise in tremendous condition. The lyrics are as clear as the day Tupac wrote them and present beautifully. This lyric sheet comes with a LOA from JSA (Z42111) and a Letter of Provenance from Jermaine Carter, a friend and associate of the late rap superstar.
