Unlike most Yankee greats, there aren't very many signed pieces that combine slugger Roger Maris with the team that he made history with. Indeed, Maris' time in New York combined the highest moments of his career with the most bitter. Beating Babe Ruth's single season home run record made him famous but also brought with it anger, controversy and disappointment. Maris unfortunately passed away in 1985, before the big sports autograph boom and leaving collectors relatively few signed pieces from the man who broke the game's most sacred record. That is what makes this signed New York Yankees jersey so special. The 1970's era replica v-neck has been signed by the baseball legend, one of the few Yankees-Maris signed pieces in the hobby. The Medalist Sand-knit XL label is sewn in the lower left front tail. The jersey itself is V-Neck pinstriped and sports the timeless "NY" Yankees logo screen printed on the chest. The v-neck is trimmed in navy blue and a manufacturer's tag is present inside the collar but has been washed out with age. Maris has signed the front of the jersey just below the Yankees logo in blue marker. This is the only authenticated Maris signed Yankee jersey that any member of our staff has seen or heard to exist.
