This is sports ultimate award - the Vince Lombardi Super Bowl Trophy. And while other examples of this trophy is encountered with the name of the victor etched into the base, this version is untouched, only bearing a single metal NFL shield logo. This was due to Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis allowing his players the opportunity to buy a replica version, only slightly smaller, than the one given to the Raiders following their victory in Super Bowl XI. Many players passed on buying one of these trophies due to the cost and the NFL then made a rule barring manufacturers from replicating the original trophy. This sterling silver plated prototype stands 18 inches tall and is mounted on a black 8 1/2” base and is only one of two known replicas to have been produced, thus making it a truly unique and rare item. The 7-inch ball has come partially detached from the pedestal and there is very minimal scuffing to the lacquered base, but overall this Lombardi is in great display shape.
