Starting at the conclusion of the 1935 college football season, the Downtown Athletic Club (DAC) of New York began honoring the most outstanding player in the country with an award, the DAC Trophy. In just the following year, the award was renamed the Heisman Memorial Trophy, after the death of legendary football coach and DAC athletic director John W. Heisman on October 3, 1936. Past Heisman award winners include Paul Hornung, Roger Staubach, Earl Campbell, Marcus Allen, Herschel Walker, Doug Flutie, Bo Jackson and Tim Tebow. Presented here is a vintage 1930s 14K gold Heisman Memorial Trophy pendant boasting an image of the famed trophy in the center, surrounded by a bed of CZs. In relief lettering around the perimeter are the words “HEISMAN MEMORIAL TROPHY”. On the back of the pendant is a “14 KT.” mark. This item - showing appropriate wear - weighs approximately 16.9 grams.
