The 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers were the toast of the National League, winning the Senior Circuit pennant by a cavernous 13-game margin over the Milwaukee Braves. Led by the formidable Roy Campanella, who won the second of his three National League MVP Awards in 1953, and his fellow Hall of Famers Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, and Duke Snider, the Dodgers orchestrated their second straight pennant-winning season. Although the Dodgers fell to the Yankees in the World Series, “The Bums” were only two seasons away from their franchise’s first World Series title.
This rectangular banner measures 17 x 23 inches, and features “Brooklyn National-League Champion 1953” printed across the top in white text. A baseball diamond, accompanied by the names of the 1953 Dodgers players, is printed on the banner in similar white text. This banner comes mounted on a 21 x 26 inch rigid backing.
