If there was never a Cy Young, the likely name for the best pitcher award would be known as the “Walter Johnson Award”. The lanky right hander was arguably the greatest pitcher of all time, winning a remarkable 410 games, while playing most of his career with the perennial last place Washington Senators. This Official American League William Harridge baseball features the signature of the great Walter Johnson to the left of the sweet spot in black fountain pen. He added the inscription “Best Wishes to David” above his signature. Johnson’s signature, as well as the inscription, remain clear despite the years of weathering this gorgeous sphere has endured.
