Perhaps the greatest hurler of them all, “The Big Train” Walter Johnson accumulated 417 wins, all of them for the Washington Senators in his celebrated 21-year career. Second only to Cy Young (511) in career victories, Johnson accomplished his feats in a decidedly different era and created the standards to which modern-day pitchers are still measured against. His 110 shutouts remains a major league record. Of legendary gentlemanly stature Johnson is considered among the games’ most esteemed statesmen. Walter Johnson High School was founded and named in his honor 10 years after his death and is located just a few miles from his long-standing Bethesda, Maryland home. This clean, cream colored “Athletic League” baseball was signed by Johnson on its sweet spot in blue ball point and his signature has been given a PSA/DNA grading of “7” and the baseball grading a “6” with an overall grading of “6.5.” The ball contains manufactures “Horse Hide Cover” and “Made in U.S.A REG. in U.S. PAT. OFF” stamps in blue ink and comes with PSA/DNA LOA certification #V03200.
