Often considered an outstanding defensive player, Randolph’s career similarity score most closely resembles that of Brooks Robinson according to Baseball-Reference. At the end of his playing career, he ranked fifth in major league history in games at second base (2,152), ninth in putouts (4,859), seventh in assists (6,336), eighth in total chances (11,429), and third in double plays (1,547). Playing 13 of his 18 seasons with the New York Yankees, Randolph was selected to five All Star teams as a member of the Yankees and took part in three World Series as a player.
Randolph like using small gloves so he could make a quick release when turning a double play. Randolph has signed and inscribed the glove with “Game Used, NY Yankees” indicating this was a glove used during his time with the Yankees between 1976 and 1988.
