Presented here is a game ball from the Cleveland Cavaliers February 16th, 1985 contest against the visiting Houston Rockets. In this game, Cavaliers shooting guard World B. Free scored the 15,000th point of his NBA career. However, the twin towers of Ralph Sampson and Hakeem Olajuwon were too much for the Cavaliers, who fell by a score of 122-115 despite the 45 points and nine assists contributed by Free. Sampson, who played every minute of this game, finished with 41 points and 21 rebounds while making 15 of 17 free throws. Free, who finished his NBA career with 17,955 total points, averaged 22.5 points per game in 1984-85 while almost single-handedly carrying the Cavaliers to a playoff berth.
This Spalding basketball features “WORLD B. FREE”, “15,000th Point!”, and “FEB. 16, 1985 / CLEVELAND VS HOUSTON” painted on the ball in white paint. Free signed the Spalding panel in black marker, shows good signs of game use and comes with a LOA from Sandee Free.
