Arthur Miller’s iconic series “A Baseball Card That Never Was” returns with this portrayal of the Pittsburgh legend Honus Wagner as he might have appeared in the 1958 Topps set. Wagner, formerly the National League’s record hitter, hit .328 over an incomparable 21-season career spent in Louisville and Pittsburgh. This artwork is a mixed media on canvas. Specifically, the mixed media is acrylic enamel house paint, oil pastels and colored pencils and sealed with varnish. This image shows Wagner from the chest up in his Pirates home uniform, holding a dark-brown Louisville Slugger stick. Wagner is wearing a red block “P” cap, with a small Pirates logo and text that reads “Shortstop Pitt. Pirates” near the bottom of the artwork. Miller has signed the bottom corner. This canvas artwork measures 25 x 30 inches and is a fantastic display piece!
