This edition of Arthur Miller’s fantastic “A Baseball Card That Never Was” continues with this sublime representation of what a “Shoeless” Joe Jackson 1948 Leaf baseball card would resemble. Jackson, whose career spanned from 1908 to 1920, hit for a .356 batting average during his career, including a staggering .408 average in 1911. Were it not for his banishment from the sport, which many pundits and fans view as unjust, Jackson would be a lock for the Hall of Fame and one of the great legends of the sport.
This canvas artwork shows a portrait of Jackson in his White Sox home jersey in front of an orange background. Jackson’s famous “Black Betsy” bat is slung over his left shoulder. A yellow banner on the bottom border of this canvas reads “Joe Jackson” in bold black text. “A Card That Never Was”, “2016”, and “Arthur K. Miller” are printed in black text on the back bottom border of this 40 x 33 inch canvas.
