Arthur Miller’s fantastic series “A Baseball Card That Never Was” brings an international flair to baseball artwork with this depiction of the Sadaharu Oh, the most prolific home run hitter in the history of world baseball. This artwork is a mixed media on canvas. Specifically, the mixed media is acrylic enamel house paint, oil pastels and colored pencils and sealed with varnish. It portrays the Yomiuri Giants first baseman as he might have appeared in the 1948 Leaf trading card series. Oh is shown in his Yomiuri Giants uniform, appearing resplendent in the black and orange made famous by the New York Giants. This canvas artwork measures 30 x 25 inches, with Miller’s signature located on the upper corner. Located on the back of the canvas is “A Baseball Card That Never Was: Sadaharu Oh (1948 Leaf)”, “2019”, and a second Miller signature. This artwork is a fantastic display piece of Japan’s greatest baseball player!
