The Hall of Fame ace Satchel Paige is immortalized in this entry to Arthur Miller’s captivating “A Baseball Card That Never Was” series. This canvas artwork imagines what a 1951 Bowman card bearing Paige’s likeness would look like, had the card company produced his card in 1951. Paige played with the St. Louis Browns from 1951 through 1953, making two All-Star teams and winning 18 games pitching primarily as a reliever. This canvas artwork shows Paige in the beginning of his windup, wearing his Browns home uniform. This artwork measures 40 x 26 inches. Miller has signed the reverse side of the artwork, dating it to 2017, as well as signing the front top right corner. “A Baseball Card that Never Was: Satchel Paige (1951 Bowman)” is written on the reverse side of the artwork as well.
