This entry in Arthur Miller’s spectacular “A Card That Never Was” series shows Lou Gehrig’s hypothetical 1948 Leaf baseball card. The Hall of Fame first baseman, who retired in 1939 and died in 1941, is shown on this canvas artwork in his Yankees home whites, a bat cocked over his back shoulder. The background of this canvas is turquoise, and “Lou Gehrig” is printed in white text over a red border near the bottom. This canvas measures 40 x 33 inches and is a spectacular display piece.
