Made to the specifications ordered by Stan the Man for the 1959 and 1960 seasons, this un-cracked Hillerich & Bradsby M159 shows the heavy use back-to-back seasons of batting .364 and .354 can do to a bat. Grain swelling from heavy ball contact, white ball marks and stitch impressions further enhance the “been there” appearance of the tool used by a first ballot Hall of Famer. Cleat marks are impressed into all sides of the 34.5”, 30.5oz bat’s warm ash finish. Musial’s famed number 6 is hand written on the knob in black marker and red paint has marked the bat from repeated removal from the dugout bat rack. Stan has signed the bat in bold black marker between the “Powerized” brand and the embossed “Musial Model” endorsement on the barrel. This bat was personally given by Musial to Gene Rodgers, member of the Sportsman’s Park ground crew in 1960 and has been in the Rogers family until being sold at auction in 2009. A letter of provenance from Gene Rodgers, Jr accompanies the bat along with a LOA from PSA/DNA. Multiple images and LOAs available at goldinauctions.com.
