With the tragic passing of Hall of Famer “Pistol” Pete Maravich in 1988, signatures of the Louisiana basketball legend are hard to find. What’s even more rare is when you find a Pete Maravich autograph using his full name instead of “Pistol Pete”. That is what is offered here as this MacGregor F923 basketball has the bold signature of “Pistol Pete” Maravich. Maravich signed his full name on the panel above the MacGregor panel and it presents beautifully on that panel, nicely centered and no blemishes – the finest known Maravich signature.
Maravich starred in college at Louisiana State while playing for his father, head coach Press Maravich. He played for three NBA teams (Atlanta, New Orleans and Boston) until injuries forced his retirement in 1980 following a 10-year career. He is the all-time leading NCAA Division I scorer with 3,667 points scored and an average of 44.2 points per game. One of the youngest players ever inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Maravich was cited by the Hall as "perhaps the greatest creative offensive talent in history". This signed basketball comes with a LOA from JSA.
