In 2011, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar made a guest appearance on The Simpsons episode “Love is a Many Strangled Thing”, the 17th episode of season 22. Abdul-Jabbar appeared to give Homer “the ultimate punishment” for strangling his son – to be strangled by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Abdul-Jabbar, dressed as Homer, strangled Homer, dressed as Bart, preventing the Simpson family patriarch from being able to strangle Bart due to the trauma of the Abdul-Jabbar strangling. Paul Rudd appears as “Dr. Zander”, the psychiatrist who prescribed the strangulation by the Hall of Fame center.
Offered here is a script singed by members of The Simpsons cast and crew, as well as a handwritten note to Abdul-Jabbar from producer Bonita Pietila. The script has been signed by Hank Azaria, Dan Castellaneta, Harry Shearer, Yeardley Smith, Nancy Cartwright, Pamela Hayden, Julie Kavner, and Tress MacNeille. The voice actors all inscribed a personal note to the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, with Azaria writing “Yo Kareem! Hi from your pals Moe, Apu”, Hayden writing “Yo, Kareem- I’ve had so many good times watching you play over the years. I’m glad you came to play in Springfield w/us – your pal ‘Milhouse’”, and Kavner writing “Kareem Abdul-Jabbar! Wow! I’m a fan of yours – you are my all time favorite! Peace! (M. Simpson)”. Cartwright inscribed “Yo Kareem!” and “Bart Simpson”, MacNeille inscribed “Kareem! Vocally Yours”, Castellaneta inscribed “Hey Kareem! Its Me! Homer Simpson”, Yeardley Smith inscribed “Hi Kareem- Welcome to our world xo Lisa Simpson”, and Shearer wrote “To Kareem – You’re still the best ever!!”. Pietela handwrote her note on The Simpsons stationary, writing “Kareem – We all have our signed photos on display. That was so thoughtful + generous of you. Hope we can meet your high standards when the show airs on March 27, 2011. Thank you so much”. The notes and signatures have been done in black marker. This item is displayed in a 22 x 30-inch display. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication and a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
