Presented here is a personal check from 1881 signed by the 23rd President of the United States, Benjamin Harrison. The grandson of the ninth President, William Henry Harrison, Benjamin Harrison served between the two non-consecutive terms of Grover Cleveland. A Republican, Harrison’s presidency lasted from 1889 to 1893, during which time six states were added to the growing Union. This personal check, dated to December 2nd, 1881, when Harrison was serving as a United States Senator from Indiana. The check, drawn from his account at the Fletcher & Sharpe’s Bank in Indianapolis, was made out to a Misses Noel (sic) for $3.60 cents. Harrison signed the check in black ink. The check contains some fading on the right side. The personal check signed by Benjamin Harrison comes with an LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.
