Barry Bonds used this Sam Bat offered here during his 2002 MVP season and when it was used to hit his 589th career home run during the June 12th, 2002 game.  Bonds’ 22nd home run of the 2002 season came off of Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Cliff Politte in the top of the ninth inning of the Giants 6-3 victory. Bonds’ amazing career-high .370 combined with a monstrous 1.381 OPS propelled the Giants all the way to the World Series. Bonds’ home run during the game provided an insurance run as his round-tripper was the final run of the game.

This SAM Bonds 2K1 model bat displays outstanding use and is un-cracked. The barrel has ball marks along with white leather ball scuffs and bat rack streaks. There are some cleat marks on all sides of the barrel and the handle and knob have been taped to enhance the grip. The top barrel has the length “34,” weight “31.7 oz,” date “05 31 02,” model “2K1” and Bonds’ initials “B.B.” written on the barrel end in black marker. The slugger has also signed the barrel in silver marker, inscribing “6-12-02 #589” making this a complete Barry Bonds gamer. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B24281) for the game use and has been given the highest possible grade of GU 10, plus a LOA from Barry Bonds.
