Offered in this lot is a magnificent Uruguayan soccer trophy from the 1907 soccer season. This trophy was awarded to Club Suarez, noted as the champions of the “Liga Nacional de Football”. This Victorian-style trophy is likely the oldest Uruguayan soccer trophy in existence and is ornately decorated. Designs are etched in high relief throughout the trophy, which is topped by a removeable lid topped by a figure of a soccer player kicking a ball. Etched on the trophy in various places are “Liga Nacional de Football”, “1907”, and “Club ‘Suarez’ Campeon 1a Division”. This trophy measures approximately 23 inches tall. Included with the trophy is a photograph of the Club Suarez team with the trophy. The photograph comes in a 13.75 x 11.5-inch frame.
