Graded PR 1 by SGC. Hall of Famer. In 1911, the advertising efforts of General Baking Co. yielded several identical 25-card productions. Five different G.B.C. brands were involved in this insert card promotion; among this group, the offered Ty Cobb example was issued with a loaf of Brunners Bread. Due to the very limited geography of their distribution, these Brunners Bread cards are intensely scarce (as are the cards from any of the other four sponsors). This generally bright and appealing specimen stands as an ideal representative of its type. The card's centering is favorably aligned, and the corners reflect moderate, mostly inoffensive wear. A wrinkle ascends upward from the card's bottom edge, a bit of stray paper (likely, from one-time scrapbook mounting) remains adhered to the back and a few transparent, amber-colored product stains populate the piece's surfaces. Overshadowing these discrepancies, however, is a compelling richness of color in the cardfront depiction, which is also notable for exceptional register of the portrayal. Poor condition, but nevertheless projecting enticing visual appeal.
