Uruguayan goalkeeper Pedro Casella was presented with this silver medal from the Comite de Damas Pro Ninos Pobres after Uruguay won the gold medal in the 1924 Paris Summer Olympics. Uruguay became the first South American team to win Olympic gold in soccer with a 3-0 defeat of the Switzerland National Soccer Team in the gold medal match. Casella also won the 1923 and 1924 South American Championship titles with Uruguay and played his club soccer for Belgrano.

This offered medal is silver, with a soccer scene and a runner holding a branch etched on the front of the medal in high relief. Etched in high relief on the back of the medal is “Comite de Damas Pro Ninos Pobres / Homenaje a los Campeones / Mundiales de Futbol / 1924”. “P. Casella” is etched on the back of the medal as well. This item is a historic piece of memorabilia from an Olympic gold medal winner!
