The Italian soccer player Raimundo Orsi was presented with this gold chalice after leading Italy to the 1934 FIFA World Cup title in Rome. Orsi, who also earned 13 caps for his native Argentina, scored the tying goal against Czechoslovakia late in the World Cup Final, locking the score at 1-1 before Angelo Schiavio’s extra-time winner in the 95th minute for gli azzurri. Orsi scored three goals in the 1934 World Cup, including a brace in Italy’s 7-1 demolition of the United States in the Round of 16. A star for Independiente in Argentina and the venerable Juventus in Italy, Orsi scored 88 goals in 194 appearances for la vecchia signora and was a part of five scudetto sides. This offered gold cup is 10 inches tall and features an ornate leaf high-relief design near the top. It is etched with “Al Valore Atletico All’atleta / Raimundo Orsi / Primi Vincitore” and “FIFA FIGC / Campeonato Mondiale Di Calcio / Roma 1934 XII”. An enameled crest with the Italian national colors and the Jules Rimet Trophy is located on the trophy. This historic soccer trophy is in great condition and it comes with a Letter of Provenance.
