Obtained at the 1935 New York Baseball Writers Dinner, this Official National League Ford C. Frick baseball has been signed by numerous baseball dignitaries, legends and Hall of Famers. Highlighting this baseball is the signature of none other than the hobby’s most prized autograph, that of Babe Ruth, who’s distinctive signature appears in bold black pen on the side panel, just below that of fellow Hall of Famer Casey Stengel. Also appearing on that panel are the signatures of Lou Little, Burleigh Grimes, Bud Hassett and Joe Dugan. On an adjacent panel, appears the signature of Joe DiMaggio, making this a rare pre-Major League signature. Also appearing on DiMaggio’s panel are the signatures of Ford Frick, Joe Cronin, Herb Pennock and Kennesaw Landis. This ball also includes the signatures of James J. Braddock, Hans Lobert, Bill Terry and several others. This ball has been shellacked to preserve the signatures, giving this ball a golden tone. The stampings are still clear and bold with all of the signatures having been penned with a black steel-tip fountain pen. A truly wonderful piece of baseball history presented on the baseball and it comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A69326).
